ARMY SALUTES GALLANTRY OF CAA KILLED IN JANIUAY ENCOUNTER

CAMP PERALTA, Jamindan, Capiz – The Army’s 3 rd Infantry (Spearhead) Division under the leadership of Major General Dinoh Dolina hailed the gallantry of the CAFGU Active Auxiliary (CAA) killed in an encounter between troops of 61 st Infantry Battalion and CPP-NPA Terrorist at Barangay Agcarope, Janiuay, Iloilo on September 09, 2018.

MGen Dolina said “CAA Virgilio Loraña made the supreme sacrifice while fighting the CPP-NPA terrorists who are continuously extorting food and money even to the less privileged civilians in the area.”

Dolina also extended his condolences to the bereaved family of CAA Loraña. “Your loved one departed from this material world but, his heroism in liberating the people of Janiuay from the CPP-NPA Terrorist’s ruthlessness will be remembered forever,” Dolina highlighted.

This Command gave assurance to the family and direct dependents of Loraña that they will receive burial and other financial assistance from the government.

Family members of CAAs who were killed-in-action are entitled to the special financial assistance and other benefits from the government. The CPP-NPA Terrorist don’t have such program for their members and love ones thus, we encourage them to abandon their bloody and senseless armed struggle for them to start a new and productive life together with their family.

Loraña, 41 and a resident of Monte-Magapa, Janiuay, Iloilo died from stab and gunshot wounds inflicted by the terrorists during the encounter. The terrorist organization also suffered at least two (2) casualties as seen by the engaged troops and indicated by the bloodstains found in the area.

The Army troops recovered high powered firearms from encounter site which include two (2) M16 rifles, one (1) AK47 rifle, and IEDs that were left behind by the scampering terrorists.

Earlier, Colonel Benedict Arevalo, Commander, 301 st Infantry Brigade, stressed that the Army will continue to conduct offensive military operations against the CPP-NPA terrorists to stop their extortion activities. He also encouraged the people in Panay to continue cooperate with the government forces and report any movement and activities of the terrorist organization in the area through the following hotline numbers: 0928-175-7208 and 0916-766-3740. ###
